8 weeks. 3 short swims a week. Every session is small enough to finish and planned so next week's feels possible. No login, nothing to buy, open a session, take it to the pool on paper, your phone, or your Garmin.
This plan builds your engine; it can't fix your stroke. One 30-minute lesson a week alongside these swims does more for you than anything else you could pay for. Better technique makes every swim less of a slog, and that's what keeps you turning up. Most pools run adult-improver lessons; ask at the desk.
Distances assume a 25 m pool (20 m or 33 m? Near enough, swim the lengths). Rest as long as the session says, or longer. Repeat any week that felt hard before moving on: there's no prize for rushing it. Milestone swims are marked ๐ถ.
Yes, week 1 is eight lengths with as much rest as you need between each. If a full length is still a struggle, do a couple of lessons first, then start here.
The plan says freestyle, but every session works in breaststroke too. Swim whichever stroke you can keep going, and use your lessons to build the other one.
Just repeat the last week you completed. Turning up regularly matters far more than making up the swim you missed.
No. Open a session and print it or keep it on your phone. If you do have a Garmin, "Garmin file" or the SwimSet watch app will guide you rep by rep, genuinely helpful when you don't yet know what comes next.
Swim where there's a lifeguard, stop if something hurts or you feel unwell, and check with a doctor first if you have a heart or respiratory condition. Rest is part of the plan, not cheating.
